Anthropic has launched a new service called OSS Scanner that offers free security vulnerability scans to open source software projects, The Verge AI reported. Open source projects that opt into the program will receive periodic vulnerability scans conducted by the company's strongest artificial intelligence models. The scans will search repositories to help developers identify and fix potential software security issues sooner. [1]

The service utilizes Anthropic's flagship Claude Mythos model to review code automatically, according to The Verge AI. However, Anthropic stated that the outputs from the opt-in scanner will be fully model-generated. The generated vulnerability reports will not undergo any human review or triage before being delivered to maintainers. [1]

Anthropic is a public benefit corporation based in San Francisco, California, that was founded in January 2021 by former OpenAI members, including Daniela Amodei and Dario Amodei. The company focuses on artificial intelligence safety and developed Constitutional AI, a training method that uses model feedback guided by natural-language principles rather than relying only on human preference data.
