Apple has invited media to an all-day product launch in Los Angeles on October 28, ZDNet AI, 9to5Mac, and Tom's Guide reported, citing Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman. The event will showcase Apple's first touchscreen MacBooks, an updated iPad mini, and M6 MacBooks. [1][2][6]
The upcoming touchscreen MacBooks will feature organic light-emitting diode displays in 14-inch and 16-inch sizes, according to ZDNet AI. These models will run on M5 Pro and M5 Max chips and incorporate a redesigned, lighter form factor. ZDNet AI added that Apple also plans to release a separate 14-inch MacBook equipped with a base model M6 chip and a largely unchanged build. [1]
Apple transitioned its laptop lineup to custom silicon starting in late 2020 with the M1 chip, which replaced Intel processors to improve energy efficiency and performance. Earlier design iterations included the introduction of Retina displays in 2012 and the Touch Bar contextual interface on select MacBook Pro models in 2016. [10]
