Laptops containing Nvidia's new RTX Spark N1X processor went on sale on October 16, 2026, according to Tom's Hardware, The Verge AI, and Nvidia. The new processor is an Arm-based system on chip built for laptops and compact desktop computers. The hardware launched in devices made by Microsoft, HP, Lenovo, Asus, and Dell, with shipments beginning on the day of release, Tom's Hardware reported. [1][2][5]
The Verge AI and Tom's Hardware both report that the flagship placement for the new system on chip is inside Microsoft's Surface Laptop Ultra. The Verge AI reported that the Surface Laptop Ultra contains up to 128GB of unified memory. Tom's Hardware noted that while the Surface Laptop Ultra is a well-designed device, its hardware capabilities primarily benefit artificial intelligence enthusiasts. [1][4]
According to MediaTek, the RTX Spark platform was built in partnership with MediaTek to power artificial intelligence agents. The Verge AI reported that the processor features Nvidia RTX Blackwell graphics and enough unified memory to run sizable local artificial intelligence models. [1][9]
Nvidia and Microsoft originally announced the computing platform on May 31, 2026. The chip combines a 20-core Nvidia Grace central processing unit with a Blackwell RTX graphics processing unit and unified memory to target artificial intelligence, creative, and gaming workloads on Windows on Arm systems.
