The Technology Innovation Institute has introduced Falcon-Emirati-7B, a language model tailored to understand the specific vocabulary, rhythm, and cultural context of Emirati Arabic. The Hugging Face Blog reported that while Modern Standard Arabic is used in news and textbooks, day-to-day conversation and storytelling in the United Arab Emirates rely on the Emirati dialect. [1]

The Hugging Face Blog noted that literal word-for-word translations by models trained only on Modern Standard Arabic often miss the intended meaning of regional expressions. Falcon-Emirati-7B was specifically created to bridge this gap, handling local poetry, proverbs, and short anecdotes that standard Arabic models struggle to interpret correctly. [1]

Large language models are artificial intelligence systems trained on extensive text datasets to perform natural language processing and generation tasks. Emiratis represent the citizen population of the United Arab Emirates, numbering approximately 1.15 million people within the country. [2][3]
