Microsoft Chief Executive Officer Satya Nadella has called on the technology sector to assume artificial intelligence models are compromised and to build an emergency brake system to contain them. The Verge AI and TechCrunch AI reported that Nadella outlined his recommendations in a post on X on October 10, 2026. [1][2]
According to The Verge AI and TechCrunch AI, Nadella wrote that artificial intelligence models should no longer be accepted as a set of nested black boxes where outputs are simply accepted or rejected. Nadella urged the industry to step back and assess its trust architecture. TechCrunch AI noted that he called for separating the model from the harness that orchestrates its work. [1][2]
The Verge AI reported that Nadella advocated for a transparent system where models can be contained and observed, leaving behind tamper-proof human-readable evidence. The Verge AI and NDTV Profit both reported that his proposals include timely public disclosure of system failures and incidents. [1][6]
Nadella became the chief executive officer of Microsoft in 2014 after leading the cloud and enterprise group, and he became chairman in 2021. [8]
