Political groups focused on artificial intelligence policy spent millions of dollars to influence the 2026 midterm elections, producing mixed results across key congressional races, TechCrunch AI reported. Heavily funded candidates lost several contests despite major financial support from industry-backed committees. [1]

Two industry political action committees, American Mission and Building the Future, spent a combined $4.8 million to support South Carolina Senate candidate Darline Graham, TechCrunch AI reported. Graham ultimately lost the election. TechCrunch AI noted that political groups on both sides of artificial intelligence regulation are already preparing for the next election cycle. [1]

Industry stakeholders formed the political action committee network Leading the Future in 2025, bringing in more than $140 million from donors including Andreessen Horowitz, OpenAI President Greg Brockman, and Palantir co-founder Joe Lonsdale. The network operates American Mission for Republican primaries and Think Big PAC for Democratic primaries. [4]

In addition to artificial intelligence spending, political groups affiliated with the cryptocurrency industry are turning their attention to future elections following Democratic gains in Congress, Cryptonews.net reported. [3]
