Austin-based software firm ThisWay Global acquired an unfinished data center project at the Texas A&M RELLIS Campus in Bryan, Texas, after the previous private developer filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. Data Center Knowledge and ET Datacenters both report that the transaction was completed on September 30, 2026. The Texas A&M University System has sought to establish a data center at the site since 2013. [1][2]
ThisWay Global plans to transform the site into a 73 MW facility named the Research and AI Compute Center, according to Data Center Knowledge and ET Datacenters. The developer who began construction in 2024 entered bankruptcy in November 2025, leaving the physical structure incomplete until the recent acquisition. [1][2]
Data Center Knowledge reported that the new facility will serve as a demonstration site for the company's Sovereign AI Blueprint. The planned architecture includes closed-loop liquid cooling systems and phased power deployment that remains subject to approvals from Bryan Texas Utilities. [1]
