Artificial intelligence could boost United States gross domestic product by nearly 50 percent to $44 trillion by 2030, according to Anthropic co-founder Jack Clark. PYMNTS.com and CNBC reported that Clark presented the projection on Saturday, October 17, at the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank in Bangkok. [1][3][6]

The economic forecast comes from one of Anthropic's internal models, PYMNTS.com reported. Clark acknowledged that the projected increase from the current $30 trillion baseline sounds very outlandish, but he argued that artificial intelligence is already driving major leaps in scientific discovery. [1]

Clark also urged global policymakers to act quickly during a limited window to establish unusual and serious rules for artificial intelligence, PYMNTS.com reported. He emphasized that international cooperation will be necessary to govern the rapidly advancing technology as performance improves. [1][3]

Anthropic is a San Francisco-based artificial intelligence public benefit corporation founded in 2021 by former members of OpenAI. The company develops the Claude series of large language models and focuses on artificial intelligence safety research. [8]
