Anthropic has announced Claude Duet, a new AI agent designed to compete with Meta's Muse and OpenAI's Dots, according to reports from The Verge AI, CNBC, Engadget, 9to5Google, and VentureBeat. The Verge AI reported that the tool is launching as a research preview aimed at professionals and small business owners. Users can join a waitlist to access the service, which is available as a standalone application on iOS and Android as well as through Claude on the web. [1][2][3][4][5][6]

The new agent is built on the Claude Opus 5.5 model, according to The Verge AI. Anthropic stated that the agent operates by sending users a short daily morning brief covering important updates across connected applications, while maintaining background tracking of tasks throughout the day. VentureBeat and 9to5Google noted that the system is designed to take actions proactively for the user. [1][5][6]

Anthropic is an American artificial intelligence public benefit corporation headquartered in San Francisco, California, founded in January 2021 by former OpenAI members including Daniela Amodei and Dario Amodei. Its flagship product is the Claude series of large language models, which are trained using Constitutional AI to align model behaviour through AI feedback based on explicit principles. The company competes directly in the AI agent market against tools such as Meta's Muse model family, which was developed by Meta Superintelligence Labs for multimodal reasoning and coding. [8][9][10]

The release marks an expansion of consumer and enterprise agent tools as AI developers move beyond standard chatbot interfaces. Anthropic currently operates as a privately held firm following a Series H funding round in May 2026, with plans for an initial public offering scheduled for November 2026. [8]
